What to Expect
If you have never visited one of our services, you might not know what to expect.
Our worship is led by volunteers who are members at Eastside. We don’t have any professional musicians or worship leaders, but just humble men who love the Lord and are willing to lead us in song, prayer and help serve.
An attended nursery is available for babies. We also have a room for nursing mothers and a training room in the North foyer.
You’ll notice our signing is done a capella, or without instruments. It may seem simple, but it follows the pattern led by the early church. This pattern is a something we wish to follow, in a manner that is pleasing to God as we worship and praise His name.
As an important part of our worship we observe the Lord’s Supper every Sunday as was done by the church recorded in Acts 20:7. It is not a big meal, but unleavened bread, individual cups of grape juice provided for all the Christians who wish to partake. The Lord supper was instituted by Jesus. One gospel record describes it in Matt. 26:26-29. This was not meant to be a great feast, but a memorial, and a physical proclamation (1 Cor. 11:26). So in partaking each Sunday we take part in proclaiming the Lord’s death until he comes.
We will also pass around a collection plate for a goodwill offering to be given by each of our members to allow the ministries of the church to continue. Guests are not required nor expected to give.
As a church of Christ we strive to worship the same way the church worshipped in the New Testament. We follow the patterns set in the Bible and the early Christians.
How does one express their love to one who gave everything for us? We believe it is important to worship in a way pleasing to the Lord. Jesus calls us to worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:21-24). It is important to put matters of personal taste aside and follow the Bible as our practice in worship.
Our worship is simple. We believe the Bible has layed out everything that is part of worship. Worship includes Gospel Preaching – Acts 5:42, Praying – Acts 12:5, a capella Singing – Col. 3:16, Observance of the Lord Supper – Acts. 20:7, 1 Cor. 11:17-34. , and a voluntary Member Contribution to support God’s ministry, 1 Cor. 16:1-2, 2 Cor. 8:1-5.
We hope you will come and join us and be a part of our worship to God and let us be an encouragement to your life.
